How to cook chicken dopiaza curry – ( Restaurant Style )


This is not distinctive curry house fare . Dopiaza means ‘two onions’, which you will find in this simple but yummy recipe. You can also use lamb in its place of chicken.

Dopiaza as of Persian meaning two onions. Chicken dopiaza is a South-Asian curry dish. It is geared up with a large quantity of onions, both cooked in the curry & as a garnish. Onions are additional at two stages through cooking, therefore the name two onions. The dish frequently contains a meat, typically chicken.

Ingredients of chicken dopiaza:
  • 1 lb chicken breast, cubed
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 4 cloves
  • 8 black peppercorns
  • 1 inch ginger, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 6 small onions, halved
  • 8 green cardamom pods
  • 3 dried red chilies
  • 3 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 2 large Tomatoes, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil

Cooking method of chicken dopiaza:

  1. Heat up 2 tablespoons oil and stir fry the halved onions until caring and translucent. Remove and stay aside.
  2. Add the enduring oil and saute the cardamom, bay leaves, cloves, chilies & peppercorns.
  3. When they buzz, add the chopped onions this moment, together with the ginger & garlic, & fry for 4 minutes.
  4. Add the ground flavors and salt and cook for 4 minutes.
  5. Add the water & tomatoes and simmer 4 minutes until paste starts to thicken.
  6. Add the chicken parts and continue to cook for 14-15 minutes.
  7. Add the kept small halved onions & then cover and cook for a further 7-10 minutes until chicken has cooked during.
